So here’s another biggie that you will hear all the time.. “you’ve taken that verse out of context!”
Of course it’s possible to change the intended meaning of a writing by taking verses out of context. But from a book of the ‘GOD OF THE UNIVERSE’?
There are tons of examples but one of the biggest is the verse that commands a woman who is raped to be FORCED to marry her rapist.
Deuteronomy 22:28-29 ” “If a man meets a virgin who is not betrothed, and seizes her and lies with her, and they are found, then the man who lay with her shall give to the father of the young woman fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife, because he has violated her…”
I have heard SOOO many desperate attempts to try and rationalize this from an ‘All Loving, All moral god’. Guess what? Every response I’ve ever heard has Failed miserably.
A REAL loving god would command that people should NOT be raped and the rapist should be punished and the victim should be cared for by the entire community. THAT would be an impressive command especially 2,000 years ago.
Is the ‘god of the universe’ incapable of creating a book that would be PERFECTLY understood by everybody who EVER reads it, Yes or No?
The following video just drives the point home.
